boot switch

Ive just booked my car in to have the tailgate flushed and the guy at the bodyshop tells me i have got to buy an electronic boot switch , he said "u press a button from inside your car and it will release the catch in the boot"

Does anyone know wot hes talkin about and where i can get one from?

he means a solnoid (sp) , otherwise how will u open the boot?

I think you can get them from maplins or wotever its called. You have it wired up to a button in the front to open the boot as he said. duno ne more.

if u look at some escorts and KAs they have them! the solinoid costs bout £20 if that! not sure where to pick em up from! could try a scrappie!

just get a central locking motor, i used the boot locking motor on my mrk 1 i have a button that when i push it an electric pulse goes through the motor bushes the catch and POP boot opens.

Should cost no more than a tenner to do, dont know how easy the lock mechanism is to mod on the new shape though
