Boot won't open!!

Car  '03 MCS, MKV Ed30
My boot wont open when central locking button is pressed on remote/dash. Ive read its the solenoid on the boot catch, how the hell am i meant to open the boot from the inside to change it?

Also how much am i looking for it to be replaced?

Thanks

James

This will be fun :P , Climb into the boot and take the plastic cover off the boot lid and see what you can see? Maybe there is a catch but im not sure ;(

climb into the back and use a tx15 torx bit to take the boot plastic off,
then there should be a vertical 2mm bar running from the boot button to the push the bar down as far as you can, and t he catch should pop!!

then change the solenoid!

Just don't use the boot ;)

I haven't been doing since it stopped, just wanna get it sorted really.

Renault have told me the Solenoid is part of the handle so i need to buy the assembly which is £43?!

Yep, about £45 quid as they only sell the solonoid unit complete. It's almost definately the motor that's packed up. You can buy these on their own on ebay for about £15 though

Already ordered the Solenoid from Cliospares so will replace that first! £25.50 with CS Discount :D

Ill update this for anyone searching and getting the same thing as I did.

Took about 5mins to swop the Solenoid over and has worked fine ever since.
