Yes, climb inside the boot, unscrew the plastic boot cover and pull/push the metal bar that locks/unlocks it,
i your boot has stopped working it'll be the solenoid that's packed up, they're not expensive around £30.

Na the button fell out when I took the handle off and im presuming I have put it back together wrong as it's not pushing far enough down and not pushing the mech enough to pop the boot. f**k nos how I put it back together wrong there is only a spring and a button in there. Unless I'm missing a clip or something somewhere
Ah right, without looking at it I can't really help mate,
when I took mine apart to colour code the button the whole mechanism was solid,
so I didn't even try taking the button off, I just masked it all up and sprayed the thing.
