Bottom gearbox mount

Theres a clunking noise coming from the passengers front side of my car now a again when i pull off or turn the wheel nearly to a full lock. I've heard it could be the bottom gearbox mount because the top mount looks like new. Just wondering what the tell tale signs are if it is the bottom mount?

the upper gearbox mount is on a spindle that's threaded both ends - it could be that the lower nut is loose (common problem). it's difficult to check the nut's tightness, as there's next to no room to swing a spanner on it - it's easier to remove the mount and use the flats on the spindle to tighten it into the nut. if that's what it is and it recurs, try threadlocking the nut on

otherwise, could be the top mounts?
