Brake bias after lowering , part2

  Mk5 R32 (ex.182 (Cupped))

Just got my car back from bodyshop and thought id test to see if i get any lockup from the back cause of the brake bias.

Went to 50mph, slammed my brakes on, came to complete stop with no lockup...

Went to 40mph, slammed brakes on whilst wobbling the steering wheel, no lockup...

Does this mean the brake bias hasnt been affected?

Which brings me to the question, why does my brake pedal and handbrake have to travel further before i get the same effect as before i had my car lowered?

ah you were the one that posted about that a while ago!

i cannot think why it is doing this, if you are mechanically minded you could try what i suggested in the other post and look inside your drums (you will need a new hub nut for each drum you take off, and a whole lot of torque to undo/replace them!). the handbrake/pedal indicates a rear brake change as you have suggested, but rather than guessing i would look and see if anything looks odd inside the drum.

having just read another post it might be worth finding out if you have an EBD, i didnt think you got these but someone said all clio 2 ph2 have them, is yours a clio 3?

When I lowered the 172 by -40mm, I noticed that the braking changed .... like it lost its "bite". Reckon that the rears were providing more effort than normal. However the ABS didnt allow the rears to lock up. Fitted Eibachs with next to no drop ... improved handling but the excellent 172 brakes were back in force!

Hmmm odd... Not sure what i should do, i miss that instant punch from the brake pedal...
