Brake Help Pleeeease

  K20 eg 217 whp.
My brakes SUCK to a dangerous point although it did just pass the MOT.

The disks and pads have done about 2k if that and basically just feels like i have sponges for brakes with no real gripping power.

I bled the front brakes today and there was loads of air as suspected , but they still are not very good, i do need new shoes for the drum brakes as the handbrake is quite high and i know they havnt been done for ages but didnt think this would have much effect on overall braking quality? isnt it like a 90 : 10 ratio between front and back ??

What else could do with changing apart from the rear shoes? Think im going to buy the K-tec upgrade if theres nothing else i can do with the standars?

My cars a mk 1 1996 RT btw

ANY ideas appreciated, thanks JB

Hmm well the brakes on an RT have never been good, could try performance pads? Don't bother with the K-Tec upgrade just source some brakes from a williams/16v will be much cheaper! You'll need discs/pads/carriers/calipers think thats it...

The brakes are probably fine as they are just s**t on an RT as standard. As sami says you could either try some performance pads, or get some 16v brakes put on there. 16v brakes should make a nice difference and shouldn't break the bank. You would need the discs, pads, calipers and carriers for the 16v and can usually be had pretty cheap if you find someone breaking a 16v.

Bleed the brakes properly/renew fluid, standard setup is fine for the car, infact very snappy.
