brake pads on a mk2 ph1

  Mk1 MX-5 next summer
Jus went for quick drive and pads hav begun to squeel when i break, only wen i break lightly then stopped with harder breaking. Does this require new pads, if so how much are they. Futhermore lol when i reached about 60-70mph beggining to hear a humming sound like low pitched buzz really stange. Any help. ta. :dapprove:

humming sound could be wheel bearing, but you would here it at around 30mph too. Wind noise at 70mph is common.

best to quickly remove the pads to check the wear on them... they may just need a good clean.

I've Jus changed my brake pads and discs and im gettin the hummin sound as well. so this is wheel berrings is it?? ow much are they to replace..

  Lots of Alfas
Yeah you may have a bearing out is it coming from the front or rear? You can look at the thickness of the pads by taking the wheel off and looking into the gap, if its squeeling it doesnt mean they are worn, if they are grinding thats worn! Your car proably has lucas brakes which are the same as the valver (and i think the 306gti) so the pads are easy to get hold of.

You'll have the 239mm disks so I'd just use Ferrodo pads there about £15 from Halfords easy to fit.
