brake pedal going stiff now and again giving me no breaks .

  ph2 clio 172
Hi don't know if you can help ? Had new rear disks and pads also handbrake cable fitted by a friend today which all seemed fine until I pulled up at a junction and couldnt push the peddle down , luckily it kicked back in at the last second . This also happened again so now I'm very concerned =\

Any ideas thankyou .

If it's going stiff, it could be a vacuum leak - did you bleed the brakes or tamper with the master cylinder at all?

Quick way to test if it's vacuum/servo related, turn the car off, pump the pedal until hard, keep foot on pedal and start the car. If the pedal pressure doesn't change, you've got a servo/vacuum problem.
