Brakes stuck on?

  fiesta 1.25
Im not sure if they are it just seems that way.Im parked on a hill atm and if i roll backwards it will creak and go really slow.

When i let off the hand break i can get my nail in between the pad and disks on the front but not on the back is this right?

If they are stuck on what could cause this?

My brakes used to stick in the saxo but there were major problems with them as the handbrake eventually started to fail :( might need new brakes?

I dont know when it happened to my car i had drum/pad brakes, but 172s have front and rear disc brakes so it could be a different problem to what i had :S

As said your rear brakes could be binding, Causes is usually a sticking piston in the caliper, May need to take your wheels off, Whip out the pads and clean the pistons

Ill have a look,im still not 100% sure that they are.

Should i be able to get my nail between disk and pad?

Should it creak when rolling back?

Im sure the pads are in contact with the disc pretty much 100% of the time tbh, The creaking could be because they are binding i.e pushing against the disc harder than they should, Check the piston in the caliper it should wind in clockwise if im correct, If it rotates freely then chances are the piston is doing its job fine, Could be wrecked pads.. Have they been changed recently ??

Jacked the car up and the NSR wheel isnt spinng backwards freely so im guesing it needs a new bearing.

Is it worth getting both disks with bearings in?

Yeah change both discs at the same time and buy them from Renault as come with bearings pressed in already and are £95 + VAT iirc, Also worth changing the pads at the same time too... Hopefully that'll fix the problem

How much are they from renault and how much is just one bearing?

Bearings i have no clue tbh

Bought my discs 2 months ago and they came fitted with bearings and ABS rings and came to £95 + VAT

Sure you could buy bearings from anywhere really but then you'd have to get them pressed in.. Better to go down the new disc route imo
