Breakpads?

Went to halfords at the weekend for some new front breakpads for a 52reg 172 (standard). The guy said there were 3 different types and asked which ones i wanted. I said the standard ones but neither of us knew which type come as standard? Any idea what the factory fitted breaks/pads are? Oh and wheres the best place to get them?

And yes i know, my bro tell's me i dont deserver to have a 172.

DO NOT BUY AT HALFORDS.

The brakes pads are dumps, either buy Renault one or upgrade them. Buy these and ill get a gang together to carjack you they are that bad. Pm Oms if you dont believe me

Unless you do track dasy or drive very fast then say hello to brake fade, mate managed to get his brakes to fade on a dash thropugh cov city centre and up the A444

Stock pads are fine depends how you drive if you've no issue with stock then I'd stay with it its less cost and hastle.

Halfords OE pads for 172/182 well there only one size so they don't know what there on about and the pads they sell whilst perfect for cold use once you get any heat into them they fail quite badly.

As already mentioned, OE pads are fine for the road and cheap also...£30 from most places like www.greydevilindustries.com, yozzasport, bbpt and k-tec

not sure about Halfords own brand of pads, but the others they stock are Ferodo Premier, which for a normal road pad id say were about the best you can get IMO

oh, and its BRAKES not breaks, sorry but its a pet hate of mine people spelling it like that

Renault charged me £45 for new pads too, but i needed them fast, so couldnt wait for them to be delivered, and there was no way i was using cheap halfords s**t.

I have given them some proper stick on the back roads too, and havent had any problems with them at all. I did replace my disks at the same time though, as they were fooked too.

Halfords own are the problems. Ferodo as you said are standard Renault spec ones. However Halfords seem to rarly have Ferodo in stock.

I'd say Halfords own pads are SHOCKING! I had a set on for about 3000 miles before changing them (three weeks).

They're good for sedate driving... and your shock will come when you have to do any kind of hard braking/emergency stop.

I have a FREE meaty set in my garage if you're interested.
