Breather Pipe

  Bumder With A Buffer
The Air inlet for the Mk2 172 has a breather pipe on yes.

I have put a shorter bend on and that hasn't got the breather hole on it, just wanted to know if it will do any damage not having that connected?? The pipe is connected just tucked out of the way.

I think you need to go into some detail as to what you have actually done..
I'm assuming you have the standard breather pipe connected but it's no longer connected to your inlet, in which case it should be ok but will probably cover your engine bay in sh*t once in a while

really you need to run a oil catch tank. oil vapor will exit and then condense into splodge all over your engine. get a catch tank

When i get a bend and oil breather/filter im going to need a catch tank, right?

What are they? where do they go? and ive read i can make one myself iirc

Ive always thought when i get the intake from the air filter id loose the breather pipe hole so i put a little cone type filter in the breather pipe and thats that.

I need to learn about this catch tank stuff, i think i get it though.

What goes in the bottom hole?

I have put a new 90 degree bend on and have the Filter on the end like so..

From the pic above you can see on the rad water I have just bunged the old Breather pipe that connect to the Air filter inlet into there ;). NOT into the water just so you know! The pipe is rested on the bottom pipe there. Never noticed a smell.

I was under the impression I could fit a small filter onto the end and all would be good??
