Breather that sits on top of the gearbox...

We should of had a look in the other garagw there is two clio boxes in there, and we forgot to do your coolant.

Anything with a JB/JC box will do.

Pretty much any manual renault from the 5 to the mk2 clio!

I'm not sure if there's supposed to be some sort of bung in the top of the sport 'box or if there's some trick to it, but these REALLY do not fit.

Only way I've managed to get it to fit is by wrapping an elastic band around it to make it stick.

Does it twist lock in or something?

Lost me here? It should just me push fit afaik. Which bit have you lost?

It does push fit BMH, but it doesn't fit in the hole well at all, basically it's too small for the hole (not a problem I've had myself).

Basically, we knocked it out by accident on Saturday when changing the clutch, when we went to put it back in, it was a VERY loose fit... so loose it fell out on my way home..

Then, I went and got another from a scrappie, and it's very loose in the hole still... so in the 'box on the 172, is there a rubber bung in the hole or something to make it fit?

The only way I've managed to keep my new one in is by wrapping an elastic band around the "tube" sticking out the bottom of the filter.

There should be a rubber grommet in the actual hole. Then the plastic breather fits snug.

If not- it'll be part of your gearbox oil by now. lol

I think it came out with the breather, then came off the breather. Nevermind, a rubber band does the job just fine.
