do breathers make a difference

i think they the oil breathers. The ones that look like a mini air filter

Breathers are used when you change the bend to the throttle body on clios. (usually there's a pipe going from the cam-cover to the bend)
The breather makes sure the oil-damp stays in the cam-housing and not making a mess of your enginebay, but might aswell filter air when air is going into the cam housing. The cam-housing have to breath though. (I guess due to temperature and pressure changes)
cam-housing = engine head???
Anyway I'm not a car mechanic so might be wrong however I like to think I'm not

i though it was to vent the oil vapour/pressure into the throttle body for lubrication of some decription? i know people say they unplug them as its warm air but i didnt think it would make much difference at the amounts of air were talking about.
i vented mine for a few weeks but decided to plug it back in the end, renault bothered to build it like that so i decided to give them benefit of the doubt on that one. unlike the acoustic valve.

i think when disconnecting this and putting a breather on there will save you the hassle of cleaning the throttlebody everyonce-inawhile
The oilvapour-s**t that comes out, goes back in the inlet to be burnt (also gucking up your TB). For environmentalreasons, nothing more. They do'nt want it venting into the atmosphere/dripping out onto the road...

But removing it and fitting a mini filter on the breather, will you not end up with a dirty/oily engine bay instead of the tb ? :S

I think it is 8 or 10mm since in France they use the metric system
You can easily disconnect it from the 90 degree bend airbox --> throttle body, and measure it. If I don't forget I can measure it tomorrow when changing fluids.

Anyway the pipe is connected to the head, which needs to breath. The breather (mini filter) makes sure there won't be getting dirt in or out.
However I have seen some greased up mini filters. The Oil-damp will go through eventually, so it needs cleaning at some point.
