breathing problems/stalling

my 16v always starts but then dies stragiht away

but all i have to do is go and knock or touch the breather pipes to the kn and it starts fine

i find this od? i did have problems fitting them pipe to the kn and they were a pain but i want to know why its doing it and how to stop it as i dont want to rub them every time i start it!

also after its been running for about a min the revs drop and go up eratically for a few secs then it sorts its self out!

Mine never died after starting but the revs did seem to go erratic after fitting my K&N - ie really low then rev up for no apparent reason without me near the gas pedal. Turned out the connector on top of the ICV (i think!) was loose.......prob not much help but you never know.....

Have you got a cat? If its F***ed then engine cant breath then it dies. Had this on Stanbo172s saxo vts. try it with the cat off if you can!!
