Broadband.. Help!

Car  Italian 3.2 V6
So just moved into a new flat.

I want/need Internet access but I don't really want a phone line (keep costs down). Only going to be in the flat for a year or so. Happy to just use mobile, phone wise. Is this possible to have access to internet without a phone-line?

I need Internet for Xboxlive and for general Internet surfing.

What do I go for? Who is the best to go with?

Piers.

go with virgin media as you dont need a phone line as it comes through coax but all other providers use the phone line so u will need to pay for phone aswell.

This relies on being in a cable area, which a lot of the UK isn't.

I use Mobile BB with an unlocked Mi-Fi, I use Tmobile for general browsing £15 for 1gb but once used up you can still browse but not receive mail through Outlook or DL stuff like Youtube, so say you use the 1gb on day 1 you can still browse for the other 29 days.
I also use 3 Data Sims, 3gb for around £10 on E-bay, they also last 30 days but if you use all 3gb on day 1 the card is usless, you can top-up but 2 expensive so I just pop in another Sim.
In my area I get could speed with both and have connected to Xbox Live and it works fine.

If your in a flat have you tried being proper pikey and scanning for any neighbours who have left theirs open?

Otherwise check the virgin route if you can get it.

Are you an O2 customer?

I just picked up O2 home phone (free evening and weekend calls to landlines ) for £10 a month and O2 broadband 20mb (unlimted d/l) for 12.50 a month (FIRST 6 MONTHS FREE) - contract is only 12 months...

So total cost of broadband and phone is over the year is £195 (excluding £43 connection charge because the previous owner of the property had virgin - BT wanted £150!!!)
