2000 clio grande 1.2
Hello all, the night before last i misplaced my main clio key. i cant find the bloody thing anywhere. i got my spare (witch i haven't used before) and i found out the chip inside is buggered (it looks like the previous owner has tried a soldering bodge job and made it worse). so basically i can get into my car and turn on the ignition but the car wont start. I reckon its cos the imoboliser wont disarm itself due to the key being buggered. I'm wondering what my options are? i know i could take it to Renault but thats really costly. i have managed to source a full lock kit, ecu and transponder for my car it seems to be allot cheaper than getting a new key, would this work? or would i get away with switching the ecu and the circuit board inside mt key to save me changing the locks? Also the car started fine with the other key so its not the battery or anything. i have a good mechanical understanding but i don't have a clue when it comes to things like this. any help will be greatly received.
