Broken seat runner clip

  Megane 230 R26
Hi all,

I've just slid the seat forward in the Trophy and it won't go back. Upon investigation I found that the small clip at the back which other threads seem to suggest is for the seat to "remember" where it was before being folded forward, has snapped in half - not surprising as Renault seem to have made it out of muck metal!

Basically the back part of the clip is a release lever for the front, which locates in the notches in the runner. The front part of the clip has disappeared off down the runners all the way to the front presumably, as the seat now sits in its foremost position and cannot be slid backwards, so the car is undrivable unless I can slip a tenner to a local midget to take it home for me!

After several attempts by myself and MarcC with a long thin flat-bladed screwdriver to try and persuade the broken part to get the f**k out of the seat runner, it started to chcuk it down with rain all over my interior and seat, and I lost my rag and phoned Renault Assistance as I consider this a warranty breakdown, hope they don't disagree! :S

I have no idea what the AA man is likely to do when he gets here (I just got a txt saying ETA 23:25).... is he likely to have a tool he can get the broken piece out of the seat runner with, or be prepared to take the whole thing apart to get it? Or will he just take it to a dealership and leave me with no car when I desparately need one tomorrow? I hope he's got something to cover the car over a bit to protect it from the elements while he tries to fix it

Anyone with experiences of this fault before? :S

Cheers for the reply Burp :)

Hmm... This thread never actually posted earlier just messed up, so I then chose to edit it after the event to be in the past tense and posted it in the Technical -> Interior etc. forum. So it's now here.

Any chance a mod could disappear this duplicate thread which is technically in the wrong section? :)

I have just had the same problem just thankfully on the passenger side. I have got the broken part of the clip out so the seat is freely moveable. Did you get a replacement clip?? And if you did where did you get it from?
