Broken Wheel Bolt

  ICE'dberg MK2 172

Help!!!!!!!

I have got a broken wheel bolt. They are the allen key type bolts, the ones that are for my alloys....ACE 197s. It has been in the garage for the last 2 days being drilled, ground and allsorts but no good.

Has anyone got any ideas or where I could take it....considering I live in Northants. Im giving Nick Hill a ring in the morning as Geoff had the same problem when he had his grooved discs fitted there a while back....

If i get a puncture im knackered. Not sure if I want to take the risk of driving to Essex for the RR if I cant get my wheel off.

HELP!!!!

My locking wheel nut adaptor broke if thats any consolation...iv left it with the bloke sorting my car out. He reckons he can get em off.

As I said the garage doing it has had the car for the last 2 days and has worn out numerous drills. They even tried removing the hub and going in from the behind. I think im in big trouble....could mean replacing the wheel!!

Craig - Ive just come across the same problem today. The adapter that they gave me when I bought the car is bust. How much are you being charged to get the bolts out?

not sure mate, my adaptor has 4 metal pins on it. They can be taken out i noticed which is probably for replacing purposes. Only 1 has bust but I had trouble getting the nuts off without damaging the other 3.

When I took the car in I explained to the bloke and he said it should be ok but does it matter if the nuts are knackered after. I said no as im going to get some more hopefully with a half decent key.

Im going to see the car tomorrow night or sat so ill ask him how he did it mate.

If thats the Renault 4 pin one, then Ive got 2 adapters but no corresponding bolts, if you want them.

Rhys

PS: The guy who sold me the car can sort it out. Starting to get a bit fecked off with the whole thing. The cat was broken, the exhaust has been bodged on and is very noisy and bangs against the rear axle and now this bloody wheel nut thing. Its going back on Saturday morning

yeah your best off getting it all sorted while it has the warranty mate. Is it 3 months?

As for the adaptor im not sure if it is the reno one or not as it came with the car. It has 4 metal pins, 2 that are close together and 2 opposite that are about 10mm apart or so. Hard to explain but if you have one it would be handy.

Cheers mate

Yes, thats the one. Youre welcome to it. Ill be in Chesterfield (probably for a while) from about 9.15am on Saturday if you want to pop along to the garage to get it.

Yes, it is three months, but Im not getting it sorted under that. Over only had the car for 2 weeks so I expect these things to be put right as its pretty basic stuff.

BTW, was it your cambelt that went? How can you tell when theyre wearing out? There is a slight whine from the engine under acceleration and Im wondering if the belt is going (v. paranoid!)

excellent mate, although iv just thought I might be working sat, ill let you know. If not i could send you a SAE for it?

As for the cam belt there was no sign. The car only had 65k and was running like a dream. Its not all bad though, I had to have some other stuff done while the engine is in bits to ease the pain a little.

Cheers
