Bucket seat movement and mot?

  Clio 172 phase 1
Heya guys and gals just an odd question I've been totold by a local mot test centre and a mate that a seat has to have 2 sliding positions to be mot legal... Is this true ?? My thoughts would be that it being mounted solid to the floor of the car makes it safer as there is less to fail in an accident... I also understand that in the event of a serious accident should the emergancy services need to move me then I'd be stuck but I'm sure they'd cut the car to s**t if it was that bad .... Can anyone tell me if it is legal or an mot failure for the seat to be fixed into place?

Reason for refusal is defined as the driver’s seat fore and aft adjustment mechanism not functioning as intended and a seat back that cannot be secured in the upright position.

If you have fixed buckets then they are not intended to move and thus it is not a reason to issue a refusal.

I think a lot depends on whether the car looks like it's used on track, then they can be more generous. I think in 99% of cases, just having a bucket seat and aftermarket wheel might not be good enough eventually though.

Ive taken it up to another garage who actually do my mot`s and thieve said they'd pass it the fact its solid to the floor and there is no rear seats as its got a cage in it would suggest its not required to move.... also they said seems as the seat is still in its f.i.a approval no one should have a problem passing it for safety .... cheers for all the reply's guess the other place just didn't want a car like that on there system or w.e ..... arseholes
