Budget lows, help!

I'm sure this has been done to the death but after extensive CS/google searching I'm no closer to making a decision.

It's a toss up between getting Apex or Spax springs for my 1.2. I'm not in a position to afford Sportlines (or coilovers, plus it's a 1.2!) & have narrowed it down to these two.

I've heard good things about the Apex 40mm springs. I want good looks & upgraded handling but don't want a bone rattling ride, however I don't mind feeling bumps & having to take it easy. Can anyone point out major differences or flaws of the two brands please? Good & bad points, handling & looks etc?

Thanks for the reply mate. I'm leaning more towards the apex as I've heard the drop looks quite nice!

haha but seriously 40mm isnt too noticable for looks imo ofcourse, i went 60mm and it looks great!

I wouldn't know where to start with that mate lol.

I've heard with 60mm you need to upgrade dampers ETC? & really can't spend a fortune!

Yeah i heard that aswell and changed mine over, but for cheap FK stuff is ridiculously cheap and ive had 0 problems with it! payed around £8 for a read damper & £15 for a fron shock haha. springs were £60 a set aswell for 60mm front/40mm rear

I've just been reading the other thread your posting in, about the FK stuff. Worth a look for that money. Is it aggro being down 60mm?

Yeah its all good stuff. haha nah its not that bad, take it easy over speedbumps and rough roads though! knocked it out of gear when i mis-judged a hump once haha

I may just stick to the 40's as a lot of our roads are rough. Plus I do a lot of county driving as well so may not be the best thing! Thanks for the advice mate.

i bought mine with apex they can be harsh but you will get used to it

they look good but couldnt tell you how they handle i dont drive it hard enough

I had apex 60mm on my 1.2 was fine got the look a wanted as well..... 40mm not that much of a difference

Thanks for the advice guys. I know it won't look really low but as long as it closes up the arch gap a bit it's ok! Plus, it's a 1.2 so the less money the better!

I know what you mean, mine owes me a fair bit already. A lot of things are putting me off doing lots of bits though mate.

My real passion is shooting/hunting (airgun), & I feel guilty as I haven't picked up my rifle or been out in the field for months due to car stuff! Plus I want my SGC/FAC soon & that will cost a fair bit!

Also, I'm 26 in March (I left it late to pass!) & will be in a much better position to look at having a Sport this time next year. But there's the whole "I've gotta keep it for a while so might as well get it how I want it & have fun"!

You won't notice 40mm IMO.

I had 60mm on my old non sport and it wasn't nearly enough so went for coil overs. Just search for some second hand coil overs. FK's or something!
