With the graphics card/general parts supply situation, I wouldn't bother building one yourself.

Get a prebuilt from Scan like @Cub. did and save some of the hassle (and likely some money)

I'd still go for Cub's one tbh. The new Intel CPUs are faster however you'll be £4.1k for a 12900k with the new DDR5 RAM. Imo, it aint worth £700 -£800 more than Cubs setup.

You might be able to squeeze a bit of money off/slightly better bits if you copy a build through a configurator like on https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ or even on Scan iirc from looking into Cub's. It'll be minimal though.

The problem with "build it yourself" PCs is still GPU availability. 3090 less so but you'll still be £2k for that alone (Unless you can get a founders edition).

The No.1 reason why I'm not bothering upgrading from my i7 6700k system. Why get a new mobo, CPU and memory when realistically, I'll be stuck with my GTX1080 card? In fact, my 1080 is the longest serving GPU I've had in nearly 30 years of owning PCs - entering its sixth year of use now.

I don't mind paying a small premium for a GPU - but some of the prices are an absolute joke.

Build something around this

That will overclock a bit more than mine on air cooling. I get 120fps average at 4K resolution on warzone.

The 5800X is cheap at the moment

Pair that with 32gb ram

And a B550 board that doesn't run hot

Along with a decent M.2 drive

Lets say £2500 with a case and PSU. Then a 32" HDR 144hz 4K monitor for £700 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...-hdr400-widescreen-gaming-moni-mo-00q-gi.html

Under budget :)

Don’t you worry yourself there Kyle, I can build one just fine. Not like the old days when you had to play with jumper settings!

Even a silly sausage like @Cub. can put a pc together these days 😁

Last time I built a proper rig they'd just cracked 1 gig on a decent overclock 🤣

Is the Price about right for the spec? I am out of date with this.
The spec for price is alright but nothing to shout about considering the GPU is the best part of £2k

A bit of dodgy Cable management going on in those pics no 🤨 wouldn’t be happy with that cable right at the front! Especially for £3.7k!
Now you need to post pics of your rig, you're not allowed to slate cable management without solid evidence your PC is a minter ;)

It’s not buying it that’s the problem, it’s getting it past the misses 😅

my PC only cost me £800 odd from some dodgy bloke tho and I can confirm it doesn’t have a whacking power cable going across the front of the GPU 😂

The 3090 takes 2 x 8 pin connectors so it's always gonna be chunky without custom cables, but it could be better I agree 😂

There’s no method of cable management to hide a pcie cable though, it literally has to slot into the front of the gpu. There’s nowhere else for it to go.

Spec looks pretty good but it does look a bit dull. But then again I like flashing lights. The NZXT cases get a bad rep for airflow iirc although not sure if this specific case does.

As for the mrs part, I recommend growing a scrotum @Ant1

It is a very competent PC. However, if there was a Ryzen one (Like Cubs) I'd get that before I get an 11th gen Intel CPU.

This system is better imo:

Better CPU but 1 step down from a 3090 in the GPU department. A 3080Ti is more than enough of a GPU. Its also cheaper and has a much better case.

A 3080 or 3080 Ti is probably a better bet and a cheaper option. You get phenomenal performance (that is not far off 3090 levels and hardly noticeable in real world use) and save yourself hundreds of pounds. Possibly more. I would have been more than happy with a 3080 Ti if I didn't need the extra the 3090 provides (which is not necessarily for gaming purposes).

Why do they put a wireless cards in new builds? If your going to use it for gaming your surely going to have an Ethernet cable?

Both look like decent builds, you’ll need a new monitor aswell?
