Bumper removal help - the side bits.....

  Impreza Wagon
I tried to remove my front bumper this weekend and failed! I followed the guide on here however when it came down to pulling the bumper off the wings I couldn't do it....Before anyone asks I did remove the bolts however I noticed some extra clips as shown below?

Anyway is there a special technique to removing the bumper from the wings?

It seemed like more than just the clip was holding them on though. It felt like the wing was going to come off as well as the bumper!

i cant view the pics but side of the bumper to the wings there are just clips, they pull off (have to give it a good tug mind)

That looks like the normal clip the bumper slots into. It's usually tight when pulling it off. I'm always worried I'll break mine :S. Have you tried tapping the bumper from within the wheel arch to shock it? could just have become jammed with dirt.

Pull very hard.
Last time I took mine off I was sat on the floor with my feet braced against the front wheel while I pulled on the bumper.

Looks like I'm just being a wimp then! I was worried I would end up damaging the wing. I'll have another go at the weekend so await the thread titled 'Broken face, bumper and wing'...

I did manage to remove the acoustic valve so at least one job got done.

That metal slide just pulls off but there's actually another bolt about 2" further forward from that clip if I'm correct. I swear I had the same problem and got the torch out and found a cheeky screw holding me back haha.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind when I try again.

Make sure you've removed the bolt in the wheel arch firstly.

Then pull the bumper firmly. I always twist the top of the bumper away from the wing too, seems to make it a bit easier.

i think its 2 bolts on the corner of the bumper, 2 middle front of the bumper, 2 abit further back. then on the sides its 2 bolts (one is tucked away on the top of the side of the bumper)

*apologies for poor description!*

make sure you have somthing to cover your wing at hand once you have pulled the bumper off to prevent it scratching the wing.
and like people have said just sit down and pull hard (pardon the expression) its a horrible feeling because you think its going to snap but it doesnt.

There is only one bolt, at the top corner of each side. To access it its easiest to undo the screw holding the liner to it anyway, so that's them undone.
Then there's a one each side underneath iirc, and the top plastic caps by either side of the top grille.
Then just pull hard.
