Buying a 2nd hand contract phone help

If I buy a phone from someone (An unwanted contract upgrade) what asurances or steps can I take to make sure its not going to be blocked later down the line because the person claims on insurance etc?

Actually if he hasnt registered the IMEI no with his operator then i dont think they can block it. But im sure someone else wil verify

IMEI will automatically be registered onto their account, so really you have no way of stopping it from happening

If they want to do it, they will tbh, ive sold a few phones on ebay and have always sent off the imei stickers with it.
