buying advice please

Hello all this is my first post of many i hope , my grilfrind is looking to buy a 03 172 sport . ,

We are going to look at two on sunday and i was just woundering if you kind people could give me some good tips on what to look for in ways of good and bad stuff?

Get a straight one. HPI before you buy!
Check all electrics, everything!
Check climate, fully cold, after 45 secs should get colder & colder, if not - £85
Check exhaust for 4k rattle very common.

Look for dents as they dent easy.
Check for damp carpets, some leak.
Rear shocks common fail.
Tyres, if worn out, a new 'good' set is going to set you back £300.
Alloys mark easy.
On test drive listen out for gearbox probs.

Get a good one, if you suspect anything, walk away, as there are lots of dogs out there, just get a good one.

thanks for the advice mate . whats the 4 k rattle ? exaust on car or in side the exhaust ? the ones were looking at are 32000 and 36000 so i would hope the gearbox is good still ! or are they fragile?

Look out for a banging noise when under hard acceration in first second could be that the engine mounts need replacing.

Well most of the OE exhaust back boxes don't make 40K so have a good look at them.
