Buzzin When Hot

My cars head gasket recently went and my local garage reckons it because a heat sensor went on it. Its now been replaced But is it right that when you turn a valver off and its hot it makes quite a loud buzzin as the water pump stays on till its cooled down to a safe temp? bit like a turbo timer! mine still doiesnt do it and im worried! Does it happen to other valvers or is the mechanic a gimp?

Well it doesnt on mine - i think a fan should come on when you switch it off and the temp is just above the last mark before going vertical so if thats the noise then you should be ok. Unfortunately mine is very intermitent....

Thats ok then. Mine seems to be real slow when its hot now too though and thats with the standard airbox so it shouldnt be suckin in hot air! Im takin it back to the garage tomorrow cus ive deffo lost power!

thats the anti perculation pump hes on about, its jus a small electric water pump

if its really hot when you switch the engine off the fan and anti perc pump run for about 10mins to cool engine down

its rarely gonna get that hot for it to run tho

adiclio 16v thats what the mechanic was on bout! I got my car pretty hot last night mind with a good 2 hours of drivin and the fan only kicked in once but as for this water pump - Nothin! Sayin that, i dont think my fans ever stayed on for more that 1 min!

Does the fan normaly stay on for ten mins?

its only if the engine is shut off when the its at a certain temp which is pretty high

unless its a baking hot day and your sat in traffic for ages and then jus pull over an turn the engine off its not likely to operate

it only does it when u switch the engine off and is set to run the pump and the fan for around 10 mins i wouldnt worry if uve never seen urs work

mines done it about twice after ive been caning it and then sat at idle for a minute then turned it off, that was when i had a blocked heater matrix and a pretty sh*tty rad since changin em an fittin low temp stat an fan switch ive never seen it run again

The aux water pump should run every time you turn the car off. Thats how its set up on a 19 anyway. Even if you just put the key in, turn the engine and remove the key, the pump will kick in. However - it doesnt really make much of a difference - I had the pump on my old 19 disconnected in fact.

The fan plays a much bigger part however - if thats not kicking in when the temp goes over the last mark then thats more of a worry.

Not on the 19 it doesnt. And I would imagine Renault used the same set up on the Clio, it is the same engine after all.

Doesnt make much difference anyway

its just a bit of assurance as ive just had a new head gasket and the mechanic i spoke too says it should come on to stop cookin the engine!
