Probably something vibrating... most likely a heatshield...

Have a quick look underneath and have a little tap/rattle at all the heatshields at the front, youll probably find one of them is either a bit loose and/or too close to the chassis or exhaust/downpipe. Another thing is the wires for the lambda sensors can be touching the heatshields and vibrating.

Have had this on mine!

Speed sensitive wasps in a tin under the passenger seat? ;o)

Does it happen when you nail it, or just when you are cruising?

I get a vibration just over 2,000 RPM which is definately the heat shield, and also round sharp left hand bends - if I take them at lift off over steer speed it makes a hell of a noise!!! Probably because its a tight fit under there and if things arent in exactly the right place...they rub. Probably needs bending slightly.

There have been lots of instances with clios with heat shield issues - its your most likely cause.
