  Clio 172 FF Pearl Black
Hi guys,
First post since browsing forum:
Just got me a 2001 172 FF.Last car was Mondeo ST200 on a V plate.Beautiful car but was getting tired so had to go. Kids grown up now so wanted something to put a smile on my face when driving and the 172 certainly does that (apart from Pearl Black which needs washing every other day if you want it to look really sweeeet).
I was a member of ST owners club and i'm pleased to find a Clio forum thats full of helpfull people (who may not agree with each other all the time, but hey, some of the posts are better for it ha,ha).
Found some old posts about diconnecting CAF feed so that it sits an inch away from Airbox to give nice induction noise. Anyone done this recently???

i wouldn't do it mate. it may sound a little bit nicer but you might notice a difference in low-end pick up...especially in the summer months that we have ahead.

if you want the sound without the loss in power i would suggest a K&N Gen2 & Viper. Or if you have more to spend i would go for a ITG Maxogen every time! albeit the maxogens are a bit quieter.

Its all a myth really, with the standard airbox, there is 2 feeds, one from the engine bay behind the LH headlamp, the other drops down behind the LH fog light for a cold air scoop thing. This feed is controlled by a valve or something.. acoustic valve or something.

If you have took the one from below off, then you have just lost the cold air scoop, the other one is pointless as its about 1ft long anyway.

I would just go with changing the filter. I currently have a K&N Apollo filter fitted...

Its nice and loud, notice it pulls harder too. :)

This is what I did for a 1st attempt, got rid of the noise sapping std CAF and also bypassed the acoustic valve & still picking up cool air, much better induction noise, along with the other mods in post #1 same thread, def made a difference in throttle response, am gonna improve it further and also change the 2nd feed to the airbox shortly
