Cam Belt change, Key or Tapered Shaft??????

Car  Fiesta ST-3
Hey all,

Just need to know if the bottom cambelt sprocket/pully coming off the crank shaft has a key to slot into a key way to align and lock the shaft and sprocket or is it a tapered shaft???

Cheers

Scott

tapered shaft mate. need a locking pin that goes in the front of the block

Sorry no on the phase 1 172? Just taken mine off to re do the csm belt and there was no key present and aint sure if there was meant to be one?

Yes locked the crank, but took the bottom pulley off snd there is nothing in the key way? surley then the pulley will just slip?

Pin through the TDC hole in the block, cam locking tool behind the 2 black caps....

Thanks for the help chaps. Changed the belt and tensioners and water pump. So much easier when the engine is out of the car.

Just one last quick question, the gasket on top of the head and under the inlet manifold, does it have a gasket or just liquid seal? As if its a gasket, going to replace it!!

between the rocker cover and the plenum? there's a teardrop shaped rubber gasket. if you mean for the rocker cover to the head.....cams out, and it's liquid gasket
