Nooooo fred lol, ill probally pop down get a quote from garage soon, thanks all
it is NOT, i repeat NOT adviseable to go to a "normal" garage, seek a specialist (and i'm not just saying that because i am one, i see other garages f**k ups on a daily basis! RS cars need someone with experience and the specialist tools to do the work - FACT)
i love how everyone referes to me and not my company LOL
i'll buy you lunch, done deal
nothing i can do about it unfortunatley, steel price has rocketed and the VAT doesn't help still cheaper than BTB
got a quote for about £300 ish, there also buying in the tool/kit needed
got a quote for about £300 ish, there also buying in the tool/kit needed
Tools are around £150 iirc, cambelt kit £120 ish say, aux belt kit £100 (can't remember real prices of kits).
You must be a good mate of this mechanic, if he's giving you 4 hours of his time and taking a £70 loss mate...
Doesn't add up pal, that's all I'm saying.
closer to £130 and £150 for each of the kits, and book time is over 5 hours
I have used the same garage since I first owned a car 10 years ago and they have always been excellent. When it came to getting the belts done, I didn't even get a quote, just went straight to a specialist on here!! Not worth the risk!
I dont hold with this 'must go to a specialist ' line of thinking. There are some exceptional independent garages that are equally good at this work and competively priced too.
Ultimately though you pay your money you take your chances.... Just be sure they have the kit and dont rely on the tipex !
At the current cost of fuel it pays to stay local if you have no specialist in your area...
^in response to that, and please bare in mind i'm as honest as they come, i couldn't care less if you use me or not, seriously i just hate seeing people getting ripped off/recieving work that is s**t, AND i recommend other specialists if i'm too busy or its too far for people to travel, but saying that i get people driving from Glasgow for minor servicing, so hey i must be not bad
in 10years (and i'm NOT joking) i have seen specialist f**k ups, independant f**k ups, dealer f**k ups, basically you name it!
i'm yet to f**k up, bar the part issue recal, which all people we're informed of and are slowly being brought back for the fault to be rectified
points are as follows
1 - specialists are competitivley priced, go find an independant doing what we do for the same money - you won't
2 - we know what we're doing
Where bouts are you fred?! What sort of prices for a 2.0 with aircon??
