I dont hold with this 'must go to a specialist ' line of thinking. There are some exceptional independent garages that are equally good at this work and competively priced too.
Ultimately though you pay your money you take your chances.... Just be sure they have the kit and dont rely on the tipex !
At the current cost of fuel it pays to stay local if you have no specialist in your area...

^in response to that, and please bare in mind i'm as honest as they come, i couldn't care less if you use me or not, seriously i just hate seeing people getting ripped off/recieving work that is s**t, AND i recommend other specialists if i'm too busy or its too far for people to travel, but saying that i get people driving from Glasgow for minor servicing, so hey i must be not bad
in 10years (and i'm NOT joking) i have seen specialist f**k ups, independant f**k ups, dealer f**k ups, basically you name it!
i'm yet to f**k up, bar the part issue recal, which all people we're informed of and are slowly being brought back for the fault to be rectified
points are as follows
1 - specialists are competitivley priced, go find an independant doing what we do for the same money - you won't
2 - we know what we're doing

ive worked at many dealers, specialists, and independants. we ALL f**k up from time to time. same as any plumber/leccy/bricky whatever. even dentists and doctors f**k up. i lost an uncle to cancer as the docs missed it.
simple answer is, find a garage that you like/happy with/trust/good prices etc etc as there are s**t fitters working at dealer level and excellent fitters working in places that are badly lit with 20 years of s**t on the floor. and vice versa.

Emphasises the point even more then Danny, don't you think? My prices were all approximate from memory. So to quote given, garage is giving 6 hours labour for free, and taking a loss of around £130.
I would be exactly same mate. I use a garage I trust 110%, and would use them for everything except this. He would probably even do a bit of research and advise me to take it somewhere else.

lol! I travelled down to freds from central Scotland including petrol I saved £150. Worth it as the dealers up here are clueless.

Call him for a quote - is s#$t hot at doing these and wish I would have followed advice and gone to a specialists over a local grg - have 'issues' at present and the money I have saved is soon to be lost!!
