renault wolverhampton mate 01902 251231 ask for steve mention cliosport.net member cheapest around
Cheers mate
No, but my brothers mate most probably has. I'd give him a bit of money to lend them so hopefully be able to lend them.Have you got the full set of timing tools?
- The tools are not the cheapest, although one garage I almost went to claims the 1.6 Megane timing tools will do the job
Explain yourself warriorCan't see this ending well !
Engine is out and on a engine stand, so fingers crossed shouldn't be too badThe problem is time..
On a driveway it take a long time, even with 2 people.
Everyone on cliosport knows only BTM can set cam timing correctly on a 172 !Explain yourself warrior

locking pin is different, other than that the rest is the same.

If you do not mind me asking, how is the pin different? Does it engage with the crank too loosely etc? From @car.crash 's pics (although it is always hard to tell) the pin looks remarkably similar to that used in the larger Zetec engines timing ; I am happy to giving the dimensions of my timing pin for the Zetec.
Are you taking the piss or being a dick? It's mechanic's not rocket science
Cheers mate, I have a project thread which I'm keeping track of progress and I did think about adding a few photos to prove it isn't impossible. Thanks againThere's always been a lot of witchcraft surrounding cambelts on here , which isn't the case. Good luck with it , would be interested to see some pictures of the change if you get any.

I guess anything is witchcraft when you are surrounded by bodgers and people wanting a 'quick buck'.
Maybe I have been unlucky with local garages I have been to but then on the flipside I have bought cars very cheaply where alot of work has been done via garages and specialists, only for me to get them fixed from what seemed like stupid mistakes, and see friends pour away good money after bad at a 'simple' fault.
As said I am not a Jedi of engineering by a long shot but it never ceases to amaze of how people can get away with such ineptness in various trades.
Renault manual States all fastenings to be changed. If they aren't. No warranty.I always change the bottom pulley bolt and exhaust pulley nut for the sake of a couple of quid too

Taking the piss ! Shame you never realised ! Same as my first post , many people can do belts on these cars but most people think only certain specialists on here can do the timing correctly ,( it is one of the laws of the forum :smile I was also rerering to the thread in my first post not necessarily you f#cking it up !
Although in the many years of being a member on this forum I have seen a lot of people do just that,
good luck with it .
here in holland it's €900 - 1000....😞My local specialist reckons that 4/5 of every Clio that comes in has either advanced or retarded timing.
Unless i was doing them day in day out, i'd just take the c**t to a garage. £450/500 is not a great deal after you consider the dephaser and belt kit is around £270 anyway, not including renting or buying the timing tools.

Thing is it's no different in terms of principle to something like a zetec SE with the fact it has fully floating pulleys and relies on friction instead of a woodruff key
Providing you have all the tools not just the horseshoe and pin and the correct procedure and a little bit of know how most the work is in stripping the car to do the job.
