cam timing

  20VT Clio & 9-5 HOT

well it was a firm called aldon autos. seemed to think it would cost me a lot of money and time to have them adjusted. seemed like a wierd email, must not have wanted my cash ;)

Ask them their method.

If its the traditional max lift at x crank degrees, its almost certainly an engine out procedure.

fooooooooooooooooook! maybe when the engine is out for the gearbox JAY172 can do it. i shall ask!

  172 cup,s2 rs turbo

just explain this method again as im unsure what you mean. have timed them up with the angle chart before but if you reckon that your way is easier please explain.

Again........sheesh ;)

Engine at TDC on non firering stroke.

Find the figure for lift on overlap, or in other words, the lift for each cam at TDC.

WIth the engine set, time the cams in for that value with you dial gauges on each tappet. Turn engine anti clockwise to measure inlet lift, and clockwise for exhasut lift. Adj the timing with the cambelt on using the verniers. Clockwise for more lift on inlet, anti for more on exhaust.

simple eh.
