Cambelt 182

Hi

Has anyone had the cambelt changed on their 182 and if so how much has it cost you?

I am going on track on the 31st at Silverstone, and thought seen as its due I should have it done, so getting it done on Monday. I have been qouted around £475 inclusive of VAT, seemed a little expensive but couldnt get it cheaper anywhere else, and these are Renault Specialists.

I doubt you will find it much cheaper than that!
Is this just for a cambelt change or does this inc aux belt and all tensioners?

Not sure about tensioners (thought they were in the cambelt kit?) but the aux belt has allready been done, so its just the Cambelt.

If it's the cambelt kit then that will include everything. They need to remove your aux belt to do the cambelt kit and a few on here have said it's best to replace the aux belt kit too.
Was it the aux kit that was fitted previously?

Not sure, its just stamped in the book by a renault dealer to say that the aux belt was changed.

Im thinking I best check now that it is definatley the Timing belt kit and not just the timing belt that they are fitting for that price.

I paid £415 to have the full cambelt and aux belt kits fitted to my 182..

That was a specialist called Birchdown. This was last year I had it done so prices have gone up.

You should check out the trader section for specialist prices. (I think you have to be a fully paid member for this)..

Hi can I just ask why I should have the Aux belt kit even if it has allready been done only a year ago?

I have just rung my local Renault Dealer and they qouted £699 for the full kit inclusive of VAT.

I dont know what to do now.

What is the £699 for? Full cambelt kit only or full cambelt and auxbelt kits?

if its had the kit a year ago then great

if its only ever had a belt then change the KIT (belt idler and tensioner)

Thanks Fred I will try find out if its had the AUX kit done or just the belt, im sure Renault should know.

The £699 was for the Cambelt and Aux belt kit, but now I have rung someone else and they say I have to have the water pump changed aswell and qouted me £750.

Im even more confused now

i'll put money on it only having a belt, no the waterpump doesn't need doing

Just been qouted £585 all in for everything by Renault in Leeds Evans Halshaw, and they said they would either drop me at work and pick me up, or give me a car FOC. They said the waterpump was only an extra £10, is it work doing it for that?

an extra £10? did they forget about the £40 of coolant, the labour to fit it and the pump itself??

LOL got to love service department quotes!

i'd rip their arm off for £10

Thats what they said, it makes me wonder whether I should stand there for 6 hours to make sure they change what they say they are going to change.
