Hi,

We have just bought a 1.4 16v clio for my sisters first car and it needs a cambelt and tensioner, plus auxilary belt etc. But as to save my dad some money im going to do the work myself.

Where should i buy the parts from, or what is a decent brand of parts to buy, ie: the company that makes the parts for renault.

Thanks

Mike.

Renault would be the safest bet yes, but like other car manufacturers they usually have there parts made by a thrid party company, like BMW with ATE, ford with motorcraft etc. Is this the same for renault? or do they make there own parts..
And yeah i need to buy the tools so i can do the belt my clio cup car anyway so this way i end up getting the tool for nothing cause my dad will buy it.

Gates make them iirc, not sure if theres a great deal of price different tbh. As a general rule renault are quite competitively priced when you can buy the stufff elsewhere.

Ok thanks, Ill price up both and see what the price difference is. I live in Jersey so we dont pay VAT here, but knowing renault over here they charge the VAT price over here to make more money.

Motor factor parts will be fine, just a buy a decent kit like an INA or a Gates kit. There's a motor factors over in Jersey called VMW. They should be able to help you out with the parts side of things.
