I would assume lots of parts from dealers aren't new in that week.

Obviously, but a while back some dealer was clearing old stock off the shelves and a few questions were asked.

I don't think it matters personally, even a 5 year old cam belt should be ok to fit.

If its not under tension then i wouldn't have thought it would matter too much?

In the packaging on a shelf somewhere in the dark, they should be ok.

It's open ones left in sunlight that would be no good.

I was talking to someone a few weeks ago who has a 6r4 metro and you can't get the belts anymore.

He managed to persuade someone at gates to make a batch of belts, he's on his 3rd batch and it's the last they'll make for him. He was saying how they have to be stored in a darkroom under certain conditions to preserve them.
