cams for williams (worthwhile?)

anybody had cams fitted to a williams? are the gains worth it? looks like this will be my next mod, i have a full hill power stage one kit plus a full magnex at the moment, was thinking about the supersprint manifold also. whats peoples opinions?

I know BenR (AngelWorks) has sold some to williams owners. Maybe someone knows how much power they made ? pretty sure it was impressive.

yeah ive spoken to ben about his cams hes waiting on the pulleys being made it was his im thinking of getting. heard +20bhp being mentioned which is very impressive.

dont know whether to get the head done at the same time or whether cams alone will make a noticable difference, plus if i got the head done i would have to do without the car for ages which isnt really an option at the moment.

ive got piper cams/pullys in mine which r mapped to the eng afaik, before made 134bhp atw and after made 145bhp atw which is about 170 at the fly, done at hillpower. next thing im doing is ss manifold...

I've got Martins old Williams which has Piper cams (270 degrees) there a bit top endy but they do give a fair bit more power just shame its all up the top. Then again its not much worse that a 172 I just like all the power at the low end.
Personally I wouldn't bother unless you've having the cambelt done at the same time as the cost is quite high when you include a remap with good cams and you might as well do other stuff then so the bills not cheap

yeah mate the cambelt is due, it was done at 22000mls its now on 51000 so was going to get the cams and pulleys fitted along with the new belt and kill 2 birds with one stone. plus get some extra poke so wont fell so bad parting with the cash.

other mods r valver manifold, scorpian system,bb-decat and std airbox with itg. when car was rr i had a viper on which is now sold. as edde has said the pipers seem to come alive topend very strong

£315 for 5bhp is a lot tbh. looks amazing though, would need to be wrapped imo to keep temps down. also heard makes the car sound a bit raspy/tinny? if i had money to burn though would get one as well as cams/pulleys.

Ive got the supersprint Manifold on mine,it has made the car sound more 'raspy'.Looks good but aint really given me much of a gain(if any) for the cash.I have AWT cams as well to be fitted when the pulleys are done(They ready soon Ben?) so il be in a good position to tell you about them then.The Jesus has them fitted, so it may be an idea to ask him.

thing is a chip does make more difference on it's own... well, until the end of 4th gear eh 2 live? lol

on 2 lives car cams took his SQM from 14.6 to 14.4 and the remap on the cams made it go to 14.0 with still room for a better run imo. Also worth noting 2 lives was never timed either, run at TDC... scary thought really!

anyway, let's get that upped limiter in mine over Xmas and see how you do then bro after that I'll give you a whoopin' on PES5 hehe

to be fair everytime you have had mods, like cams and or remap Vs me with a decat, standard exhaust and a panel filter... most even we have been was FCS day and there was nowt in it, you had remap, but Gunner slowing you down as added weight... oh, there was another time, remember when you ran on std limiter and what happened? hehe

getting the pulleys done in the new year when Ben's back, then it's remap time! Once it's all done i'll get some vids up of how it goes, only got one speedo vid and that was with a passenger and a phuqt exhaust (decat blows at both ends), but i had the 2 live chip on...

mate, on std limiter I put my foot down and had to hit the brakes! lol
