if your confident then have a go. buy a megane haynes manual which covers the f4r engine and then follow it closely.

Should be alright just take your time.

if you've got 8hours spare and the special tools then go for it (cam and crank locking tools, renault only)

oh and the £150 for the cambelt kit

it's not easy

^^ true

plus, they dont do a Haynes for the F4R

i changed the cambelt on my old Ph1 172...took two of us 7 hours and a sh*t load of swearing

I woulda thought with changing the belt its not actually doing the work but making room to fit it in as such if you see what i mean

fred is correct. I made up my cam locking tool and bought the crank locking tool from renault as i wasn't happy with the haynes idea. renault charge £500-600 to do a cambelt change. I know why. you will need to replace the cam seals etc aswell.

Yes but to have the cams out you have to have the belt off and you shouldn't retension a used belt. And the top part of the bearing shells for the cams are part of the cam cover so you need the tension off the belt before you can even look at the cams. And you need it off the remove them obviously.

Yup, the actual belt and tensioner change is a 15 min job making the room and removing other things is what takes time.

No, not at all. I think it costs about 1500 all in..... Don't quote me on that though. Give Angelworks an ring for a quote.

so it aint worth doing coz i have only just done the cam belt about 2 weeks ago, it aint a engin out job is it

No its not, should have had it done with the belt tbh if you wanted some fitting. Would cut a lot of time out of the job having the belt off already.
