can’t engage clutch smoothly when cold.

hey all

i was wondering if any of you would know why my 172 does not engage smoothly when cold (eg, in the morning). also it feels as if my accelerator is sticky, making acceleration unresponsive and jerky. after 10 mins or so, everything runs smoothly and i can take up the clutch much quicker without the jerk. wierd thing is, this does not always happen, on the rare occasion i will start it up in the morning, and it will be smooth on the first change. The problem has been there 1 month or so after i got my car, i have been living with it since, but i thought i may as well ask you clever pple in the forum.

Id take it back to renault. I had a similar problem on my fiat bravo and a dealr told me it was something they call "clutch judder" and is normal, but my sluch f**ked up about a month after they told me that!

I think the ecu retards the ignition when the engine is cold, or it runs on a rich mixture.Making the car feel un-responsive.This is also probaly whats making the gear change jerky.Mines exactly the same.It goes away at exactly the same point every morning on the way to work.Apparently there is an ecu software revision that makes it a lil less noticable.
