Can a faulty lower ball joint effect camber?

  172
Yes.

In a nutshell. Bearing in mind simply unbolting the suspension and bolting it all back up will change geometry slightly. More likely, if the ball joint has a lot of play in it, then every time you try to measure setup, you'll get different values if the car has moved anywhere in between.

Agreed. Although even on a failed one it will only vary slightly, it cant move more than a mm or so even if well worn.

Mine was knocking and my camber was out by around -1 degree, this possible on a knackered joint would you think?
