Can a v. low car be tracked?

Just been to the local tyre garage/ inbreeding society, to get my tracking sorted again because i have wheel wobble at about 70ish mph.

Turns out he couldn't get the tracking equipment onto the wheels because it is too low at the back, which i can fully understand.

But the manager of the place came out with the following dubious comments:

  • No point tracking a low car. It'll wobble anyway.
  • Wont be able to track it because it is too low. No other equipment/methods out there, so i'll never be able to track it.
  • "I can tell by just looking at your car that it is about 120-130mm lowered at the front" - Corrected him by saying its 80mm, if it was 130mm it would be shoveling up tarmac. But of corse he knew better.

Anyway... is there anyway i can get the tracking done on my car? Im sure i've seen external devices that attach to the wheel bolts, and it can be done that way.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

Nick

i had this problem, you went some where that hooks the laser line over the tyres yeah?

you need to find someone that attaches them on the front of the wheel only, hard to come by but alot do them.

just hunt around GOOD places not cheap ones ;) thats what i found helped me

and a low car wont wobbly t**t of a manager

theres a place in staines west london that do alignment with a rim based system, doesn't matter how low it is, where are you based mate?

Too low is bad kids...makes your ride look as if its on chopped springs...falls into the 'its not big and its not funny' category.

  Static Low
Got mines done no problem !
didnt have the custom rear springs though, so wasnt as low ! but arches covered all tyres

It does sounds like an unbalanced wheel tbh. you sure its not something else causing a vibration, like a driveshaft.

I tried making a string box once but It didnt work too well, easier to pay £30 for 4 wheel alignment.

  A Euro'd one...
The manager is talking out of his arse. My car is lowered around the 100mm mark and I had my tracking done no problem.

Sounds like you went to a Mickey Mouse garage mate.
