can I take my car back to renault?

  R35 GTR
Only had car about 5/6 weeks, but now have been offered a good loan deal, same amount of money as car is costing me , but about £20/month cheaper, plus I can buy private and cheaper now.

I paid 9000 for my 53 plate 172 with 20k on the clock, dunno if this was worth it, but just bought it on the spot cos I loved it.

I was thinking of giving it back to renault and buying a 182 privately, would it be possible?

cheers everyone.

  A slow one :-(
I doubt very much they'd take it back tbh. Its like wearing a pair of trainers for 5 weeks and taking it back to the shop saying you have seen them cheaper elsewhere!

Interesting price you paid. Im going to look at a 53 plate 172 with 30ks on the clock tomorrow. Thats up for 9k and wasnt prepared to pay that. At least I have got a benchmark now!

  Nimbus Clio 197
i paid £7600 for my 2004 Cup, with a £2,000 LPG conversion thrown in...... 9k seems high for that mate. can easy get them down from that!

  Megane RS 275 Trophy
I paid £7000.00 for my full fat late 53 plate 172 in monaco blue with 36'000 mls on the clock, also has cruise control....and 16 mths warranty

  A slow one :-(
Cheers lads. I'm going to drive a hard bargain with them. I'm not going to buy it for the sake of buying it so Im going to walk away if they wont play ball. Might consider keeping my Clio for another 12 months and get a Mk3 RS then!

I think the cooling off period is 28 days !!! I may be wrong though

You'll have no chance as stated above trying to return a car after 5/6 weeks...presume that is what you mean as you mention a cooling off period. The car wasn't misrepresented etc, so the seller is under no obligation to refund you/accept the car.

Why don't you get the loan and use it to pay off your finance, so Renault rescind their interest, you keep the car paying less than you do now, and you're free to sell it as and when.

All cars are going to depreciate anyway, the 182 is pretty much the same as a 172, and when the new RS comes out they're all going to take a hit in the residuals.

I think the car was misrepresented. they told me it had 17k on clock, it says this on documents, but it clearly has 20k on, 23k now.

I am not too upset about price cos I like it, just trying to see what I can do.
some people got good prices I'm glad to see though, well done, I need to work on my bargaining skills.lol.

I was planning on doing this if I cant take car back, as a few quid extra a month is alot for us students, plus I'll own the car as well, so can sell when I want:approve: which is good in case I lose my job.

good point about being same as 182, just me being greedy I suppose. I just like the alloys and exhaust and my insurance company wont let me modify till next year.

9k is a lot for a 53 plate 172! You could have got a 182 for that but never mind, if you like the car that's all that matters. I'd take the cheaper rate loan and pay off the finance, it's worth it to pay less interest.

I think 9k for a 53 plate is a good deal...it just so happens that the early 182s aren't too far behind. A 182 for 9k would no doubt have more miles than yours anyway or be an import. When I bought mine just 4/5 months ago there were people asking £8500 plus for 52 plates.

I sold my '04 Full Fat Cup'd 182 2 weeks ago for £8500, that was on 20k miles, mine was a full UK car and in mint condition

That probably hasn't helped Dave's depression lol!

At the end of the day, cars all depreciate. So long as you're happy with the price you buy at/sell at then it's all that matters.

Have to say though Smokey, don't know your reasons for sale/circumstances or owt, but that seems to be £1k at least under what others are going for. Did you trade it for that?
