Can get limited info from here...http://www.rac.co.uk/web/carbuying/vehicle_data_search/

But they can also do indepth hpi cheaks for about £25. Not too sure on where to get a free one.

anyoen who works in insurance should be able to do it..

someone did one for me through their work too. worked for an insurance comp and they have access to view the dvla database.
