Can someone look at their cup for me

hi yall.. Just got car back from reno yesterday (woo!) everything great - but i was doing something with the mats when i was in driving seat and for some reason looked at the pedal area - its all bare just above the pedals, i can see where the pedals connect, a few wires, and part of the steering column... but you do need to have your head right under the foot well, OR kneel down outside and look in - theres no way you can see it in 99% of situations.. i dont know whether its meant to be like this OR they have forgotten to put some kind of cover back or something... i think it COULD be normal as the passenger side is similar... could someone please run out to their cups and have a look plz and let me know?

one other thing.. I assume normal 172s have something here do they? as another "luxury" bit? coz it is kinda bare and scary if you look at it all....
