Can someone recommend me some good front and rear speakers?

  Mazda Mx5 + Clio 172
Wanting to upgrade my fronts and rears from the shitty standards - dont wanna spend silly money but want a good clear and crisp sound with deep not buzzy baseline...... got a decent sony head unit in already and now just need to upgrade the speakers! Any suggestions! Clear bass and vocal and deep bass is what i want and i do listen to it LOUD! he he

jbl are good, i went to audio security, an had two jbl's in the back £42 a pair, and hertz in the front £89 for two, and i hate the hertz speakers, the jbl have got aot more quality in the bass. so im thinking of swopping herts to the back. really annoying tho because there quite tinny. o an have a pioneer head unit, your best bet is to go listen and see for yourself, but again alpine speakers that are 40 quid a pair there still good, u cant miss them there the only decent ones your find in halfords.

Take a look in the MT_Audio Sub Section in marketplace as he always does decent deals for CS members and knows his stuff and is generaly just a nice guy.

JL Audio would be my choice, but also Rockford Fosgate, Vibe space series or focal, but if they are to expensive then all these will be. for more of a budget alpine type r's

Rockford are OK, but not up to JL standards IMO.
Vibe space are solely for SPL use really. Alpine Type R's are supposed to be pretty good, never tried them myself though.

Will you be amping them?

wasnt planning on amping them but do you think that would be better? is it a ball ache to hook up an amp? was thinking maybe the edge speakers, sub and amp? :p or the JL equivilant? How much would i be looking at? :-/

IMO, if you're not going to amp them, don't bother doing it at all......
I also wouldn't buy edge stuff.... it's all w**k. If you're on a tight budget, buy JBL stuff. Very good for the money.

Depends what you view as a ball ache tbh..... it's maybe 4 / 5 hours to do buy yourself, 2/3 for someone that knows what theyre doing. BUT, if you do it yourself, then you know what's where if things go wrong. It may save you a lot of money in the long run.

i fitted a set of alpines that fitted straight in original positions, was a big improvement over standard and about 28 quid from halfords

Fair enough mate....
I've always been of the thinking that if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing properly.... A lot of the problem with the standard setup is that the HU can't provide enough power and you get clipping, then it sounds s**t regardless of what speakers you're using.

Up to you. But I would bet a lot of money that if you don't amp them now, you'll want to in a couple of months.

There isnt an equivalent between Edge and JL, Edge is very much a budget system but will be better than standard, the bottom of the range JL equipment will be a huge difference again, but it will cost a lot more £££.
