can you polish steel wheels?

after having to use my valver spare for a while iv'e become fond of it and may look into getting another 3... can you polish them? how would you do this?

Steel is not good to polish!! Surely you could do it, but it requires a lot of work (aluminium does aswell), and i doubt that you will get a really shiney surface!!! Also they will be prone to rust!! So my advice don't do it!!! There is another option though, as there is a new kind of paint which has a very shiney/chrome-like colour, this would be far better!!!

polish then laquer?

Nope just get the sand blasted, primed and then painted!!! Ask your paint guy, iam sure he knows what i am talking about!!!
It is not good to laquer polished objects, as they will get at yellowish colour!!

Give wheels a thorough cleaning, ruff them up a bit, clean again and the use a good primer and spray paint.
