Car collection/delivery help?

  Ph1 T
It's finally come :) had it running which is a bonus even though I'll not be driving it anywhere,

I cant manage to lock the aero arches for some reason i cant get the pin to move and lock inside the other bit basically the latch won't push down,,

When I moved the car it feels as though the hand brake is on even though it's not makes like a rubbing noise and kind of struggles .. Engine runs fine though and everything's there for the conversion which is all I'm bothered about :)

Engine will be getting took out in next few week then the car will be completely stripped so anyone after anything let me know..

I'll get a new thread up at the weekend of the whole build, our lass is getting me the engine crane for my bday in 2 week so that will be out and the turbo parts will be going on my engine in the week I have off for Xmas,

The price of a new ecu is holding me back at the minute though

The cars cost me 1900 Whatever I get from stripping the whole car down is my budget for finishing it ATM Hoping to have everything done January

I was referring to the ecu mate, how much have you got saved for that? Or are you looking at stripping the cup first?

  Ph1 T
Yeah dan stripping the cup first I can run the conversion on standard management just not at high revs so it's not holding me completely back,

Coilovers
Exhaust
Wheel
Body parts
Then just scrap the shell

Been speaking to Chip Daniel he's advised a omex or a mtech all looking around 1k

Do you mind me asking how much you paid and what ecu is it mate

LOL!, no way. I'm not upsetting him, he's mapping my car!

He's honest enough, he'll tell you.

Flol!!

Do bears s**t in the woods?

Yes and they do so very slowly it would appear. Lol.

With regards to ecu prices, the mtech I run on my turbo retails at 495+vat with a semi assembled loom, but obviously if you buy a few of them at a time like I do you can get the price down a bit.
Omex is around 700 ish with a semi assembled loom iirc, but I've not bought one recently and I'm not an agent for omex I just happen to map a lot of them but I would assume people like mike@mwm get better prices than those that are published too like I do with the mtech ones, there is normally a trade price on all ecu's

Both ecu's are very capable for budget units, I marginally prefer the mapping software of the mtech but conversely as you're too far away for it to be me mapping it anyway i would advise the omex on the basis there are a lot more places that map them. Omex hold their value better secondhand as well as to be blunt early mtech v3 units were poor quality and they've earned a poor reputation in certain quarters from that even though the v4 doesn't deserve it as its a proper machine assembled unit now just like the omex. Kind of like buying a skoda really, good quality car these days but with a bad reputation still hanging over the name to a certain extent so residuals aren't as good. That's only an issue if you are selling it though and the fact they are cheaper new helps with that anyway.

PS

If you do go mtech I've mapped enough different specs of clio turbos running them now that I could probably knock you up a base map to get you up and running with (will still need final mapping though of course it will be a conservative base map) I will just need to know your cr you end up on if it changes and what injectors you are running. Get a wideband though so you can see what the fuelling is doing yourself whatever ecu you go for, all modified turbo cars should have one really especially in the early stages.

Daniel what's holding you up just work ect oh and are you 2 sound the llandow trackday in march?

My mrs (lesley on here) is doing the llandow day so one of our cars will be going even if im not, I guess if its dry she will take the turbo and if not then the mk1 although she might end up taking the rs2 one just cause she loves it even though its not quite as track orientated, lol, I dont think I can make it but will try and bum a day off work to tag along if I can.
