Car failed MOT

Weel my Clio failed its first MOT on saturday on emissions. there was an leak in the exhaust which they clamped (that helped reduce the emissions, but not enough) so its going back tomorrow to be tested again with the standard airbox on back on it.

They ran diagnostics on the car to see if anything was wrong and were saying its miss firing slightly. What ever the problem is its annoyed me so much that i decided there and then to go an order a new car. i went round to my local ford dealer and over the afternoon worked out a good deal for a new fiesta Zetec S 1.6 TDCI.

Im sure fixing your car would have been cheaper than buying a new car. But each to there own.

thats what my mum and dad said, but rather than having to pay out the final payment on the clio ford will settle the finance and give me some extra money for it to use as a deposit and I thow in some extra money to get my payments down.

I then have a new car with another 3 years of vey cheap motoring ahead of me.

your car must be knackered!!! my 1.2 16V passed its MOT with a decat + induction, and it had done 65K back then, now on 73K!!!

they ran diagnostics on it and said it was mis firing slightly. so hopefully this will fix it. i dont want it to cost to much as im giving it to the dealer as p/x on my new car.

what ive heard is, bung fuel system cleaner (injectors included) then give the car a right ragging to clean up the deposits. and then take it for testing.

obviously u could use the buy a new car method.

Just an update... after the dealer spent all morning running diagnostics on the car it turns out it was a dodgy sensor in the exhaust. this will all be replaced under warranty.

The new car has been ordered and i should get it by the end of the month. here is the engine data: 90BHP and 204Nm torque at 1750rpm (which is more than the fiesta ST)

1.6 Duratorq TDCi Diesel 1560 cc
4 cylinders in line; DOHC; 16 valves; alloy cylinder head and block; direct injection with high-pressure, common-rail, multipoint fuel injection system; turbocharger with intercooler; electronic throttle
