Car Has Been In For A Service AND...

Ok, I'm guessing I will have posted this in the incorrect forum but Ideally I cold do with a quick response as I'm due to take my car back to the garage tomorrow...

I had a service and break fluid change on Tuesday and I've just been out to my car to find what I believe to be break fluid sprayed up one side...Now it isn't a lot but it is noticeable when you look closely. It looks like it may have come off the wheel as it has spayed up the side of the car like dirt.

I've tried removing it with T-Cut and WD40 but to no avail. If you attempt to scratch it off it takes the lacquer off with it. It's not black but brownier in color...

I guess my question is could this brownie fluid be brake fluid and is there anything that can be to stop it eating away at the paint?

When I take it back to the garage what should I say? I have spoken to them on the phone and they want me to bring the car in which I will do tomorrow (means a day off work!!!)

Unfortunately its not a renault but an LCR...Sorry I know I shouldn't be posting on a Clio website but I've always found this site quite entertaining and a good source of info...

I would take pics but it's difficult to capture the damage as it's a fine spray up both doors. The best way to describe it would be if you had put too much blacker on your tyres.

The car is an 05 reg and has only done 17,000 miles. It was serviced at the same place where I bought it from 8 months ago...

I'm guessing whats happened is that they done the fluid change, spilt some on the floor then driven the car over the spillage causing it to flick up...

Does brake fluid act in same was as as rust (will it keep eating away until it's completely removed)?

they will probably try and deny it, there is nothing to suggest its not something corrosive you have run over on the road.....sounds like they would need to spill a fair bit to affect both front wheels and get it to spray up the door...

Its just on the one side mate...Since picking up the car I have only done 30 miles (drive home from the garage).

I'm guessing they kind of shot themselves in the foot by offering me a brake fluid change as part of the service...

certainly sounds like it was their fault, have they got a single service bay? if so inspect the floor, just hope they won't be tw*ts about it.... End of the day its their fault.... im guessing the fluid resevoir is on the same side? might have splilled it while filling it up during bleeding....

I think so mate...

They want the car in tomorrow and I'm just going to tell them that I want the car back in the same shape that I gave it to them in...Lets hope they don't kick up too much fuss but if it means they have to respray the whole side of the car then thats what they are going to have to do...They did say on the phone that this is what they might be forced into doing...

I'm just a little concerned that if they do respray it then it's not going to look 100%...I guess I dont have any faith in bodyshops :(

Go and complain. Might be an idea to take the wheel off to see if it is wet around the bleeding nipple.
