get a suction mount they are good fun :) specially if u stick a wide angle lens on it...

i done a few hanging out the windows of cars while shooting a sep car, or in a pick up taking shots of other cars and bikes...

Love it, to be really special the car needs to be a bit sharper imo, but then I guess you would have to go with a faster shutter speed and lose some of the light streaks.

Any tips on suction mounts, out of interest? I've seen rigs but they are like £200+

these are some of the best I've seen - http://www.b-hague.co.uk/camera_suction_pads_vacuum_mounts.htm

They are video support suction mounts but they take cameras as the screw mounts are the same. You can even buy the separate bits and build your own custom. (which is good) Harry_Manback has one of these.

(Product SM1 - £78.95 inc.vat ) Swears by it by all accounts, even had his video camera mounted on the rear quarter panel of his car doing over 100 Mph in it  :quiet: .. Was still holding strong though ;) lol
These will handle upto 1.5kg of weight so should be more than enough for a camera and lens.

Nice piece of kit they are. :)

That's the mount I've got. It's very good. I've used it for videos on the outside of the car at some rather high speeds and the guy I bought it off used it in Germany on his Ferrari 360. He said he had it sucked to the roof on the autobahn and got some nice 160mph+ footage, as well as on the Nurburgring. I know taking photos is different, I just used those examples to reassure people that when fitted correctly it is exceptionally secure. It won't work with my HDD camcorder though as the shock protection always cuts in, which is VERY frustrating!
