car just not right

I have a 172 clio and its not right its noisy sluggish at pulling away and the steering wheel shakes like mad at 70 can anyone give me some ideas of what I can look at before I have to spend more money on it

When you say noisy how do you mean? Exhaust noise or engine noise (e.g lots of revs)

No I wudnt say exhaust when I pull away it just sounds noisier than usual I'm used to that 172 noise but the accelerator noise seems to be higher and louder, I got out my car earlier and listened to the engine and it just seemed noisy yeah the revs I suppose, sorry not great at explaining typical girl, just stressed just paid for an alternator bracket and pas switch and only car six months

Where are you from? Get it booked in with one of the many specialists on here then gal... sounds to me like there's a few issues which have come about from poor servicing & maintenance the cars past.

Don't let these faults put you off these cars as they're amazing fun when in perfect working order.

Im in torbay devon, i have driven it tonite and the power seems ok, it is just so noisy and juddery especially at standstill at lights and even my mate said there was a weird humming/buzzing coming from what appeared to be by control panel/radio area.

Really cant afford to spend much more, thought getting rid of my mg tf was saving me money clearly not

I guess the humming/buzzing is coming from the interior light!? That is the climate sensor, normal on Clios. Get the car checked by a specialist.

cleaning and relubing might help. leaky exhaust system!? hard to guess without seeing the car.

would that make the car noisy from the engine honestly all was fine until a few weeks ago and now it just sounds awful and it seems to be so many things, buzzing, shaking, it is till going though (fingers crossed) so annoyed coz i do love the little thing its great fun and after spending £300 last month and thats with dad helping me out im right p****d off would there be fluid if it was leaking

Hole in the exhaust ?

If it was leaking something there would be fluid yes

If you mean an exhaust leak there wouldn't be any liquid no, haha. It's just gasses

Why don´t you get a specialist from here have a look at the car? afterwards you can decide if you get it done or sell/bin it. Clios aren´t bad cars but they don´t have the build quality of a BMW, Porsche whatever...

i did think that duh how thick do i sound, he he would that cause the shaking of the steering wheel too

i havent had anything done to it in respect of the wheels should i get them balanced

yeah, try it. I think ktec in Dorset is the nearest specialist to you.

Randomly I'm having the same problem with mine at the moment going to ring birchdown either tomorrow or friday and see whether they can have a look and shed any light on it for me, ill let u know how i get on!

Took my car to birchdown today, they told me my dephaser needs doing and might need a new wheel bearing so I reckon youres is going to be the same too! hope this helps
